Run for Office in 2025!
Contact us: mail@acpadems.org
We need Democratic candidates! We can’t win if we don’t run. Seats are open for School Boards, Mayors, Borough Councils, Township Board of Supervisors, Judges of Elections, Inspector of Elections, Sheriffs, and Tax Collectors.
From Chuck Stangor, ACPADEMS:
Dear Democratic Friends,
As 2025 gets started I’d like to thank you all for the work you did last year and invite you to think forward to the future.
We don’t have the final data from the state yet, but Democrats in Adams County turned out to the polls in record numbers. That’s really all we can ask for locally, and we did it!
Meanwhile, 2025 brings a municipal election with over 200 positions to be filled on borough councils, township supervisors, school boards, and other positions.
More information about the 2025 elections can be found here
Democrats can definitely win these races, but only if we run.
If you’re thinking of running for office, now is the time to get started. We hope you will because we need you.
Running for office is not difficult, especially if we all work together.
The first step after making your decision is to get your nomination petition forms from the elections office.
The first day to circulate and file nominations petitions is Feb. 18 and the signed petitions must be returned to the elections office by March 11.
If you are running for school board, you should cross-file as both a Democrat and a Republican to get as many votes in the fall election as you can.
The municipal primary, where you will run against other Democrats is on May 20.
Consider attending meetings for the municipal body you are hoping to join between now and then.
We can help you with your campaign. Email us: mail@acpadems.org.
See the Gettysburg Connection Election Page for election-related stories.
See our Running for Elected Office page for details on your candidacy.
See information about the 2025 Municipal Elections here
Thank you.
From Marcia Wilson, Adams County Democratic Committee
We need:
Candidates!
There are many openings on the ballot this year for local offices, and we need Democrats to step up for those openings: school boards, borough councils, township supervisors, etc., plus several county offices.
We have scheduled Candidate and Campaign Team training on two evenings: January 15 and January 22, from 6 to 8 PM each evening, and these are repeat sessions, so you only need to attend one.
You must pre-register, either by replying to this message or by emailing adamsdemscomm@gmail.com
These sessions will provide guidance on the process of running for local offices and the responsibilities of candidates, campaign treasurers and campaign managers.
You will learn how Adams County Democratic Committee can assist candidates and what resources are available to you.
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel – let others who’ve run and our Committee help you!
Even if you’re not sure you want to run, COME and learn!
For newer residents of the county, Pennsylvania elections are quite different from other states – let us help you learn the Pennsylvania ways.
For established residents who simply have not delved into the details, let us help you, too!
There is no charge, but donations are always gratefully accepted.
Committee Members!
There are many precincts in Adams County that have NO representative on the Committee.
Members of the Committee can be appointed until the next gubernatorial election, when all potential members must run for office in the primary election – just as any other local candidate.
Members are asked to be active in their own precinct in some way (let other Democrats know they’re the local Committee member),
attend at least 6 meetings or activities of the Committee in a year (we meet the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM and we have various activities throughout the year),
serve on one of the sub-committees (such as community outreach, political action or ways and means)
and support at least one fundraiser for the Committee.
If you would like to discuss in detail the Committee activities and responsibilities, please reply to this message. I will schedule a meeting with you!
Volunteers to keep our Headquarters Open!
We strive to be open from Noon to 4 PM every day of the week, and we have some 2-hour shifts that are currently open.
Do you have customer service experience? Are you detail-oriented? Are you willing to learn the specifics of voter registration, mail-in ballots, and the process of petitions for candidates and then convey that information to voters who come to Headquarters?
We also have the retail component of our Headquarters, so learning to use a simple cash register and a Square credit card device and keep tabs on merchandise is also required.
Yes, it seems a lot, but we provide a tremendous service to our voters and visitors, so your skills would be put to good use.
Again, reply to this message if you are interested and we will meet at Headquarters for a detailed discussion!
Thank you!
